My volunteer story at the Day Center started primarily out of pure curiosity. During a couple of walks, I saw a house with the sign DAY DAY CENTER. Therefore, I decided to find out what it was all about. Searching the internet, I found information on how to apply for volunteering. As I love working with children, I immediately made a decision. After some time, an interview and introductory training followed... and so my story has been going on for a year. A year of a very beautiful story.
Like any newbie, at the beginning I was nervous and afraid of making the wrong moves. Thanks to my adaptive nature, I fit in very quickly, both with children and with colleagues from the Association.
I especially single out the relationship with children who are users of the Day Center. Every moment spent with them is truly precious. Whether it's a game, writing homework or just casual conversations. They always make me laugh sweetly, and sometimes even surprise me with their attitudes. Quite simply, you can learn a lot from them, first of all, how to be honest, resourceful and combative.
I am very grateful for the experience of volunteering at the Day Care Center, because it helped me grow personally. In addition, it taught me the meaning of altruism and nobility.
Not to forget that this volunteering also helped me apply other experiences, such as working with children abroad through the AuPair program.
Wherever I am, Dnevni Centar and New Generation will always be a part of me. It's a story that never ends…
