Development and quality of service of the Day Care Center for children

The Day Center for Children service was founded in 2011 out of the need for children who live or work on the street to have a safe place where they can be protected and have their basic biological needs met. Over time, the needs of the local community turned out to be much broader, so the users of the Day Center became children and young people whose development was hampered by family circumstances. The day center is designed as a safe place for children which gives every child the space and opportunity to realize his potential.

In order to meet the needs of each child as adequately as possible, work with children and families in the Day Center takes place through several structured and licensed programs:

  • Family Support Program,
  • Program for the development of children's socio-emotional competences,
  • Youth economic empowerment program,
  • Mentoring Program – Older brother, older sister,
  • Children's participation program - Children's advice,
  • Parenting schools.

The day care center represents a safe place for children, where acute problems of the child are adequately and intervened, access to social and health care services, the school system is ensured, children's rights are promoted and protected, psychosocial help and support are provided, and other services are provided. important for meeting the needs of children. In the Day Center, we work with an advisory, supportive and educational approach to overcome traumatic and/or highly stressful life experiences of children, as well as to empower children to become active subjects in the creation of their lives.

All services are completely free for users and they include:

"Many behavioral and socio-emotional changes can be observed in children who regularly come to the Day Care Center for a long period of time. Children develop communication skills both with peers and with adults, they make their first friendships. They overcome the difficulties and backlogs they had in mastering skills, knowledge and school material. They accept rules and boundaries, and learn how to set boundaries and protect themselves. They adopt healthy ways of dealing with pleasant, but also unpleasant emotions, and adopt adequate patterns of reaction in unpleasant or threatening situations."
